shopify - CSS product carousel backface-visibility issue

The product carousel with my theme is sliding each image option for the product ontop of the previous image option. With a transparent PNG this is a problem because it stacks ontop of eachother.

during inspection, it looked like it had something to do with backface-visibility: but im not sure. Any help will be much appreciated.
